Cardio is nothing but an exercise or a physical activity that will increase your heart rate. You can go for at least 20 minutes if you keep your pace moderate. When you are starting, you should always go for a slower speed for 5-10 minutes. This will let your body warm up so that you do not risk yourself an injury. Even after your workout, you should give your body another 5-10 minutes to cool down.

gymWhile cardiovascular exercises are very effective for weight loss and also for maintaining good health, you should always talk to your doctor before starting any.

Remember, you are not going to achieve your goal in a day. Therefore, be patient and start slow. You can let the first week pass without trying to go too hard. You can use this time to know what exactly you are on to. Your body will also use this time to adjust to the changes.

After a few weeks, you can start increasing the intensity of your program. You can vary the time or the distance. If you want to improve, you will have to challenge your body, that is, you will have to keep on increasing. If you do not do this then your body will soon adjust to the change and then you will get no results.

Now that you are right with the basics, it is time to decide what kind of cardio you wish to do. Remember, if you want to keep to it then you will also need to choose some form of exercise that you will actually like. If you do not like to get wet then it will be useless to take up swimming for weight loss because eventually, you will quit.

Now that you have decided upon which cardio exercise you choose to do, then it is time to prepare for the inevitable. If you are the kind who gets bored easily then you will need some music to go along with your exercise to keep you from getting bored.

Now about some useful exercises that will help you lose some fat.

You might have heard about elliptical machines. They help you burn fat, improve stamina as well as tone up your muscles. Then there are the rowing machines that help you target specific areas for burning fat. Running is another great way to burn calories, not to mention, it is free. You can also get yourself one stationary bicycle. It is traditional and proven to be effective.

You can even go for swimming, circuit training, walking, using steppers as well as skipping ropes.
