Can anyone really resist a million dollar smile? These days not just your Hollywood A-Listers are rushing to the counter to purchase some kind of teeth whitening product. And it’s no wonder too, since a nice set of pearly whites can work wonders for any Tom, Dick or Harry.

white-teethSo what’s the best way to go about scoring yourself a jaw dropping smile? We’ve recently tried out Bright Teeth’s At-Home Whitening Kit. The instructions were followed meticulously, as we all know that though this type of procedure is not inherently dangerous, it can have it’s side effects.

WHAT IS IT?

With your purchase you receive custom mouth trays, which you can mold to the shape of your mouth, remineralization gel, which revitalizes your enamel after the treatment, plasma laser light and whitening gel.

Teeth whitening is actually a bleaching process that lightens discolorations of tooth enamel.

The system will remove most stains with a gentle action that whitens your teeth. As the active ingredient in the gel (carbamide peroxide), is broken down, oxygen acts upon the stained organic deposits, which oxidizes them into a white color. This process makes the overall tooth color closer to its natural unstained color. Your tooth structure remains unchanged.

RESULTS

The first time through, the whole thing took just under an hour, since we had to mold the custom mouth tray to our mouths before we could do anything else. If you’ve ever had to mold a mouth guard before, you’ll soon find that it’s quite the same process.

The effects where not readily noticeable at first, but the after the second and third uses we noticed improvement.

PROS

  • Affordable. Going to the dentist could cost up to $600!
  • High quality bleach
  • Customizable mouth pieces
  • Long lasting effects
  • Comfortable trays, no real discomfort

CONS

For the most part, the cons of this system are the side-effects that may result. Though these side effects could occur with pretty much any kind of teeth whitening procedure they include: sensitivity, sore gums, excessive use could cause damage to your teeth or other parts of your oral cavity. Some may also consider the amount of time it takes (20-30 mins) to be a pitfall. An obvious con, is that you have to do it all yourself and don’t have the benefit of having it done by a dentist.
